If you’re starting to get the impression that your life is surrounded by grey skies, it’s time for a trip to Hawaii!
Hawaii is an archipelago made up of 178 islands, the most well known of which are Niihau, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui, Hawaii and Oahu. The latter is where the state’s capital, Honolulu, can be found, a well as the international airport. It is also the most populated island; two thirds of Hawaiians live here.
During March, the average temperature in Hawaii is 24°C, reaching highs of 28°C. That’s right, you read correctly – you can walk around in a T-shirt in the middle of March!
Would you like some tranquillity? Go diving to see some whales, or take a walk through one of Hawaii’s many national parks. The volcano national park is worth a visit: Kilauea and Mauna Loa are two of the most active volcanoes in the world.
Would you like an adrenaline rush? If you’re a fan of big sensations, go surfing on the waves by Waikiki Beach, or dive among sharks… there are forty species in Hawaii alone!
When choosing your destination in Hawaii, don’t forget that in each island there is one side protected from the wind and another facing the wind. In Hawaii, the protected side is warm and dry, and can be found in the southwest.
The side facing the wind is more humid and fresh, so if you prefer luxurious vegetation, head over to the northeast. This climatic diversity is one of the most impressive characteristics of Hawaii: you can go from jungle to desert in just a few kilometres.
The low season in Hawaii begins at the end of spring, from the end of April until the start of June. Then autumn takes place from September to December. It is quite possible to find some good deals and promotions during these periods. Outside of these dates, and particularly over Christmas and for the famous American spring break, you can expect to see a lot of people across the islands… a LOT of people!
